Life Lesson #1-Change is inevitable, growth is optional. This would be my-lost count how many times I've written an "About Me." In doing so, it usually forces me to reflect on who I am-an identity some call it. However, it really should be called an "About Me so Far." So far, I've grown more passionate about literacy. When I reflect, the title educator comes to mind. An educator that is continuing to grow, seeking the best ways to make sure my students pursue their dreams, and passions through a literate lens. A vantage point, which will allow them to make educated decisions now and in adulthood. To be agents of their own lives.
I knew from a very young age I wanted to affect the world in a positive way. Life is short, but a legacy-an impact lasts a lifetime. What better mission than to disseminate knowledge to others. The greatest gift of all. I teach because it fills me up, it makes me feel alive. One day, when it's my time to go, I will look back and know I did what made me happy. My decision to become an educator was confirmed when I was awarded middle school teacher of the 2012-2013 school year in Miami, Florida. From then on, I knew I was in it for the long run. The responsibility of seeking more knowledge and best practices intensified. However, part of that growth mindset is acknowledging I will never truly be finished or posses all the wisdom of teaching, but I will always be in a state of process. Life Lesson #2-You're never done.
About me so far continued, I am also a wife to a loving husband which is a proud Longhorn-Hook 'em Horns! I am not a mother yet, but I do own a furry baby named Charlie-he's my darling Chihuahua. Originally, I am from the Sunshine State where I was raised and bred. However, in my husband's pursuit of intellectual and career development was accepted into the University of Texas MBA program, and landed us in Austin-our new home. When I'm not seeking educational growth through reading or writing, you will find me setting mileage goals for speed and endurance. For I am also a runner. I strive to set goals and achieve them. Therefore, I run. Fast. So, I leave you with Life Lesson #3-Do more of what makes you happy. #ThisIsWhyCVMS
